Jerrard Gaertner is Director of Technology Assurance Services at Soberman LLP. He is a chartered accountant designated as a specialist in information technology and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Profession, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Forensic Investigator.

With over 25 years experience in the field, Jerry has conducted engagements ranging from systems audits to security reviews, privacy assessments to penetration studies, advising Boards of Directors on technology strategy to monitoring the implementation of multi-million dollar systems for governments.

Jerry’s clients have been equally diverse – governments and Crown corporations, public companies, professional firms, owner-managed businesses, schools and not-for-profit organizations.

As Director, Jerry has overall responsibility for engagement strategy, service delivery, quality control and client satisfaction. He often reminds clients that it is not his job to know more technology than anyone else – simply to understand it better in the context of the client’s organization. Jerry sees his most important role as communicating his understanding of technology in a way that empowers clients, allowing them to enhance governance, improve control, increase value and reduce the risks of their information technology.

Jerry serves on the Ontario and National Boards of Directors of the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators (ACFI), and the Board of the Ontario Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (OAIRP). He is recognized as an expert in his field and has been featured in articles in both the National Post and Toronto Star. Jerry was recently interviewed on CBC Radio regarding ATM bank fraud and quoted by Dow Jones News Service world-wide regarding the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the USA.

Jerry is the author of three books published by Carswell and numerous articles. He is also a licensed trustee in bankruptcy.
